Over 5 Million children in the US are suffering from food allergies. There is more auto-immune disease, diabetes, autism and cancer among both children and adults, than there has ever been. The health of the citizens of the US has severely declined over that last 20 to 30 years. With all of the “modern medicine” we have in this country, why are we the sickest country of all of the First World Countries? In my opinion, and in the opinion of many in the field of nutrition, it is due to the food we consume. Some of the most dangerous being GMO’s.
The term 'GMO' is starting to creep into our vocabulary. We hear about it in the news. Just recently, there were protests in Germany against the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership because Europeans feared it would reduce the quality standards of their products. Many countries have banned GMO products, but many in the US still believe they are a good thing.
So what exactly are GMO’s? There are 4 main crops that have been genetically modified – corn, soy, sugar beets and cotton. Most of the corn, soy and sugar beets grown in this country are Genetically Modified. That means that these products have been modified to produce their own pesticides. If bugs won’t eat them, why should we?
In addition, these plants are also modified to be resistant to glyphosate, the key ingredient in Roundup herbicides. Farmers who grow GMO crops can spray their crops with higher doses of toxic herbicides to kill the weeds that are becoming more and more resistant to Roundup. Our corn, soy and sugar beets and all food products made with these crops, have absorbed this toxic chemical. It can’t be washed off. It’s not ON the food, it’s IN the food. Glyphosate has been associated with endocrine disruption, (the collection of glands that secrete hormones), reproductive issues, neurotoxicity, cancer, and DNA damage. Do you want your kids ingesting this? Just about every food product that lists ingredients like high-fructose corn syrup, sugar, corn or soy contains GMO crops. Seventy Percent of foods sold in the supermarket contain genetically modified ingredients! I encourage you to read your labels!

The (WIC) program provides formula to over 2 Million newborns in the US. The ONLY formulas they provide contain GMO soy or rBGH derived milk. Cereals marketed to children on Saturday morning TV contain GMO corn and high fructose corn syrup. And there are so many other products marketed to children with dangerous GMO ingredients
Do you send your children to school with a lunchbox full of toxins like Doritos, Fritos, fruit snacks and candy? And what are they serving in the lunch line? Jello, corn chips, sweet corn, applesauce sweetened with sugar beet sugar or high fructose corn syrup.
The ONLY way we are going to stop this decline in our health is to stand up for ourselves and STOP buying the crap that the big processed food manufactures are marketing to us. Read labels, become aware of what you are putting in your mouth and the mouths of your children. Stop feeding your children Genetically Modified ingredients.
